Physicians
Occupational Health Physicians
Our Occupational Health Physicians (OHPs) are medical doctors with specialist postgraduate qualifications in occupational medicine, including Faculty of Occupational Medicine diplomas and memberships. Where statutory medicals require it, assessments are carried out by doctors holding the relevant HSE appointment.
Key responsibilities
- Complex management referrals and fitness-for-work assessments
- Ill-health retirement and capability case opinions
- Diagnosis of work-related conditions
- Clinical governance and oversight of the wider OH team
- Expert guidance on legislative aspects, including the Equality Act 2010 and COSHH Regulations
OHP reports focus on what managers need to know: fitness for work, likely timescales, adjustments and any follow-up. Wording is plain English and stays within consent and confidentiality rules.
Advisers
Occupational Health Advisers
Our Occupational Health Advisers (OHAs) are nurses who have completed specialist training in occupational health, typically holding a degree or diploma in the discipline, and bring extensive clinical and workplace experience.
Key responsibilities
- Management referrals for common health and absence issues
- Pre-placement health assessments and screening questionnaires
- Health surveillance programmes, including audiometry and spirometry
- Workplace health promotion and wellbeing initiatives
- Liaison between employees, managers and treating clinicians
Technicians
Occupational Health Technicians
Our Occupational Health Technicians are trained professionals who carry out the hands-on clinical testing that underpins health surveillance programmes. They hold relevant qualifications and are competent in a range of screening procedures required under UK health and safety legislation.
Key responsibilities
- Audiometry (hearing tests) under the Noise at Work Regulations
- Spirometry (lung function tests) for dust and fume exposure monitoring
- Skin checks and dermatological screening
- Vision screening, including safety-critical and DSE assessments
Our technicians deliver efficient, high-volume screening on site or at our clinics. Results are reviewed by a qualified OHP or OHA, ensuring clinical accuracy and regulatory compliance at every stage.
